Is this a news or Rumors Regarding Holiday for Bank on 2nd and 4th Saturdays


Just found the following message getting circulated on the Internet and other communication channel but the authenticity of the same is not known , Still we are not sure whether its the confirm news of just a rumuors spread by some.

" The Govt of India, Ministry of Finance , Banking Division has approved 2nd and 4th Saturdays as holiday vide a communication reference number BD/AFP/PSB/GEN127-54/379 Dated 30th March 2015 and sent to IBA and RBI. Notification by RBI is expected shortly."


Our View : We need not to jump on any conslusion before some official news or notice comes from Govt of India or IBA or RBI , but there seems to be a positive developments with regards to 2nd and 4th Saturday holiday for Bank employees.

Breaking News : No 2nd & 4th Saturday off for Bankers - IBA Backtracked its decision

Breaking News :

2nd and 4th Saturday off canceled.

IBA backtracked from its decision of two Saturdays off.


As per today's meeting with IBA at Mumbai, it has emerged that IBA has backtracked on its decision to implement 2nd & 4th Saturdays off in public sector banks.

As such the earlier structure of Saturdays as half days will continue as it is in government banks. 

The matter may again be taken up for consideration in the next bipartite settlement in year 2017

Discussion with IBA on Leave matter for 10th Bipartite Wage Revision for Bankers on 18 March 2015

Following is the circular of three pages for the discussion on leave matters with IBA and Bank union.

The below is the circular issued by AIBEA, an umbrella union for bank unions of public sector banks including State bank of India.

Following are important highlights of the discussion with IBA on ancillary matters dated 18th March 2015.
  • Encashment of Leave can be done even after 20 years of service
  • The clause of 6 days continuous holiday with 4 days of CL is removed now, so that you can avail more than 6 days of continuous holiday with 4 days of CL
  • PL can be availed on 4 occasion in a year as against present three.
  • PL can be accumulated upto 270 days from present 240 days , but encashment can only be for existing 240 days only.
  • Now 4 UCL continuous can be availed once a year without medical certificate or 2 -2 twice.
  • Paternity leave 2 times for 15 days

Latest Update on PSB Bank Wage Revision - Labour Commissioner UFBU and IBA Meeting


This is the latest update on the Bank wage revision of public sector bankers which is still stuck in no mans land since more than two years.

All India Bank strike on 12 th Nov'14, as well as the Relay Zonal Strikes from 2nd to 5th December 2014 with  unprecedented success, displayed the anguish and frustration of the bank employees,through out the country , who are being denied the reasonable wage revision and also the undue delay on the part of IBA in conclusion of the 10th Bi partite settlement. 

Now Chief Labour Commissioner has fixed a conciliation meeting of Bank Unions (UFBU) and Indian bank's Association on 17th Dec'14,at 11.30 AM. at Mumbai.

 UFBU will be meeting  will be held on the same day at Mumbai.

Bank employees hope that this meeting turns out to be fruitful and some respectable wage revision takes place
